The Design Home Daily Challenge:
In the real world of interior design, we
meet with prospective clients to conduct a needs assessment and design
analysis. The problem or design
challenge is to provide the client with a design presentation which incorporates
all or most of their wants and needs, with the hope of a contract being signed.
For this challenge, we venture to Valencia, Spain
to a beautiful seaside home. The
stunning marble fireplace is the focal point of this spacious living/lounge
area in the home. This client loves
entertaining and social gatherings: from
the deck with its beautiful views of the sea to finishing the evening by the
cozy flames of the fireplace. enjoying
the laughter and fun in an elegant setting.
There were no “must haves” for this
design challenge, so using the sunset artwork for the design inspiration and
the fireplace
as the focal point, I
chose to do a contemporary, formal design using the amethyst chairs and the large square
coffee table to create symmetry. The elegant look is pulled
together with the linen tufted
bench and abstract pattern rug.
